Plant hire for first timers

Hiring machinery like excavators, dumpers and rollers isn’t just for major building sites. When you’re undertaking projects at home, these machines can be crucial to get the job done properly. Ian Brown from Rabbit Group gives us the lowdown on plant hire for first timers…

Do you hire to individuals as well as businesses?

All the time. Anybody can hire a machine from us, from individuals to large scale construction teams. Our staff can help DIYers choose the right machinery for their job, whether they’re re-laying their driveway or tackling a major garden project. Most of the machinery is straightforward to operate, but if you’re in any doubt, we always recommend consulting an expert.

What licence is needed to hire machinery?

To work on a construction site, there are relevant tests to pass and these vary. However, for a DIY job, strictly speaking, no licences are necessary. But remember, these are heavy pieces of equipment so safety considerations should always come first.

What instructions are provided?

Many of our customers are very familiar with the machines. But if needed, we can provide a handover on delivery and show first-timers the controls of the machines.

What assistance is provided to help customers decide which machinery to hire?

We provide lots of information about our excavators, dumpers, rollers and forklift hire. We can also arrange free site visits to help you decide what’s best. And of course, our experienced and expert team are always on hand to help.

How long can customers hire equipment for?

Our hire terms mean you can hire from a minimum of one day or for as long as required for your project.

How does the collection and pick-up process work?

When the machine is ready for collection, call us to arrange a time. We send a collection vehicle to take the plant away, usually within two days.

What information do customers need to provide you with before they hire machinery?

We just need an invoice address and two forms of identification.
